William Perry “Billy” Harrell, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the age of 80. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday on April 28 and thoroughly enjoyed his party on May 2 surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison and Zannie Harrell; brother, Donald Harrell; sister, Helen Baker; in-laws, Paul and Olene Harrison; and his beloved dog of 17 years, Pupcake.

Billy graduated from Jones Central High School in 1964. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and bravely served in the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a career as an electrical lineman, working with various companies and ultimately retiring from the City of Kinston. Even in retirement, he remained active, enjoying yard work and tending to outdoor projects until health challenges intervened.

In his younger years, he enjoyed time on his Harley motorcycle and had a passion for old cars. He never missed an opportunity to take a trip to the mountains or to go to the Amish Country.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Committal will follow the service at 12:00 noon at East Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Paulette; step-son Dock Davenport (Christy) and step-daughter Stephanie Walker (Kenny); grandchildren Trent Davenport (Alison), Amber Davenport, Makenzie Walker, and Cole Walker; siblings Grace Sandy, Shirley Carter, and Eddie Harrell (Becky); special sister-in-law Violet Harrell; and many nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life.

Billy will be missed by all who knew him.
