Obituary: Betty Rollins

Betty Rollins July 14, 1934 – February 8, 2026

La Grange-Betty Jean Grantham Rollins, 91, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Betty was born in Wayne County to the late Emma Lee Alphin Grantham Hall and Paul Grantham on July 14, 1934. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, DJ Hall; her husband of 68 years, Benjamin Ennis Rollins Sr.; a son, Leonidas β€œLee” Grantham Rollins; her sister, Billie Hail; her brother, Paul Grantham; and nieces, Lea Rollins and Paula Hail.

Working as a secretary at the News Argus in Goldsboro, Betty met Mr. Ben Rollins and established a lifetime partnership that endured with love for 68 years until his passing. Raising their two boys, Betty and Ben created a loving home and made sure that everything was provided as was needed.

In later years, Betty continued employment as a teacher assistant at Eureka School, the assistant to the director at Social Services, and then completing her career as a claims clerk with the social security administration.

Active in her faith, Betty was a longtime member of Walnut Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church and supported the ministries by her prayers and presence as long as her health allowed.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Rollins Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Betty is survived by her son, Benjamin β€œBenny” Ennis Rollins Jr.; and nieces and nephews, Danny Hail, Gary Rollins, Mabel Rollins, Jenny Rollins, Jeff Grantham, and Chris Grantham.
