Arrest Following Hit and Run Investigation

On February 7, 2026, KPD’s D-Squad responded to a hit and run involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle in the area of Smithfield Packing.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim and a witness on scene. Through the course of the investigation, officers identified 22-year-old Jaden Grant as the driver of the vehicle. Investigators determined the incident was an intentional act stemming from a domestic-related situation.

Officers quickly located Grant nearby and took him into custody without incident.

Grant is currently being held in the Lenoir County Jail on the following charges:

• Hit and Run

• Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill

The victim was transported to ECU Health for medical treatment and is currently recovering from his injuries.
