Patti Dupree Alphin

Kinston-Patti Dupree Alphin, 88, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. Patti was born in Duplin County on April 9, 1937, to the late Clifton Floyd Dupree and Alice Smith Dupree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Alphin; and a son, David Clifton Alphin.

Patti worked as a secretary at Dobbs School for thirty years until her retirement. With the help of her mother and father, she successfully raised three boys, devoting her life to her family. A faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church she attended regularly for as long as her health allowed.

With a great love for country music, Patti especially enjoying the sounds of Gene Watson and George Jones, and in her mind there was no better actor than Matt Dillon. Known for her coupon clipping and knack for saving a dollar, Patti was also an excellent cook, and her chicken salad was always a hit. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and took pride in the simple pleasures of daily life.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Rouse Funeral Home, with her grandson, Andrew Alphin, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Committal will follow at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.

Patti is survived by her sons, Johnnie Alphin and wife Ginger and Ronnie Alphin and wife Debbie; daughter-in-law, Brenda Alphin; grandchildren, David Clifton Alphin Jr. and wife Stephanie, Kimberli Jackson and husband Andrew, Andrew Alphin and wife Katherine, and Ashley Strickland and husband Bryan; great-grandchildren, Dillon (Ashley), Logan, Ethan, Benjamin, Anna Blake, Adalyn, Logan Kate, Addison, and Liam; and great-great grandchild, Bailey.
