Obituary: Peggy Hart Rouse

Peggy Hart Rouse, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Craven County, the daughter of Gracie Jarman and Fred Edward Hart. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Dr. John A. Parrot and Frank Rouse, sisters Katie Aycock and Bert Laura Aycock and brothers Gene Hart, Fred Hart, Jr. Billy Hart, and Duffy Hart.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and shopping. Peggy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church serving as church treasurer for over 40 years. She enjoyed helping with meals on wheels and was a volunteer at ICOR.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Rebecca Thigpen and husband Royce of Kinston, son Frankie Rouse of La Grange, daughters Susan Ward of Raleigh, Rhonda Rouse and husband Gus of Kinston, Sherry Jones and husband JR of Kinston, grandchildren Katherine Gleason and husband Craig of Raleigh, Royce Thigpen, Jr. of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Amelia Muston and husband Matthew of Kinston, and Logan Rouse of Kinston, and great grandchildren Maggie Muston and Chance Rouse.

Services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston, at 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service and other times at her home. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Kinston, NC.
