Traffic Stop on W. South Street Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Firearm

On February 5, 2026, Kinston Police Department D-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop on West South Street involving 29-year-old Juquan Jackson of New Bern.

During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The search resulted in the discovery of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a concealed handgun. The handgun was confirmed to have been previously reported stolen out of Tennessee.

Jackson was taken into custody without incident and charged with the following:

- Possession of a Stolen Firearm

- Carrying a Concealed Gun

- Possession of Marijuana

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jackson is currently being held in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
