Kinston traffic stop leads to large THC and marijuana seizure
On December 5, 2025, at approximately 8:57 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of N. Queen Street involving 30-year-old Wasim Ismail of Wilmington, NC.
During the traffic stop, officers observed narcotics violations, which led to a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, officers located and seized the following:
- More than 30,000 grams of pre-packaged THC
- More than 5,000 grams of marijuana
- Drug paraphernalia
- Electronic devices
- More than $12,000 in U.S. currency
Ismail was arrested and transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was placed under bond. He is charged with the following offenses:
- Trafficking Marijuana (2 counts)
- Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Money Laundering
- Traffic Violations
