Obituary: Edna Earl Daughety King

Edna Earl Daughety King, born on December 25, 1931, passed away on May 1, at her home. She was surrounded by her children and family.

Born and raised in Lenoir County, she grew up on her family’s farm.

After marrying, she worked alongside her husband for several years with the family business.

Edna was known for her unwavering kindness. Throughout her life, she was guided by her strong faith. Her life was filled with happiness and love.

Her love for her family was obvious by the many pictures displayed throughout her home. Traveling and taking trips with her grandchildren were her favorite things to do. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She cherished her special friends and friendships throughout the years.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents, John Odell Daughety and Lucy Hill Daughety; husband of 55 years, Kenneth Reginald King; sisters, Marcia Daughety Hatchell, Ellen Pearl Daughety, and Marianna Daughety Hill.

She is survived by her four children: Kenneth R. King Jr., Edna Carol King, Montgomery Clifton King, and Graham Grainger King (Nanette), all of Kinston. Grandchildren; Leigh Carol Hardison (Austin), Kristin Brooke Cutlip (Zach) and Kayla Caroline King. Great-grandchildren; Kinleigh Blair Hardison, Parker Brooke Hardison, Arden Brooks Cutlip and (baby Cutlip on the way). Nieces; Kathy Hill Rutz (Don) and Lynn Hill.

A lifelong member of Armenia Christian Church, she loved her church family dearly. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made payable to Armenia Christian Church.

Her journey has now ended but we will always carry her message in our hearts.
