Kinston -- Carolyn Ann Cooper Roberts of Kinston, NC, passed away on September 26, 2025, at ECU Health facility in Greenville, NC. A faithful member of Faith Fellowship Church in Kinston, NC, Carolyn’s celebration of life will be held there on October 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with friends gathering afterward in the fellowship hall. Burial will be private.
Rev. Gerald Keith Stacy, 76, was called home to Heaven on October 3, 2025. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at La Grange Christian Church, with Rev. Ronnie V. Hobgood officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Pounding Mill, Virginia.
Tomorrow, October 7, my mom, Irene Parker, will celebrate her 97th birthday and draw another year closer to the century mark. Today’s world is much different than when she was born in 1928, a decade or so after World War I and a year and change before the Great Depression.

Sheriff Rogers thanks the community for sharing the post and keeping an eye out for K-9 Fuse. —— This morning, October 4, 2025, K-9 Fuse, a fully trained police dog with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, escaped from his kennel and walked away from his residence located on the 1700 block of Institute Road, just off US 258 near the Greene County line.
