Matilda The Musical will be debuting on the Turner Stage at Lenoir Community College July 14-16 and 21-23. The Roald Dahl musical centers on Matilda Wormwood, a young girl who enjoys reading books and has psychokinetic powers. She overcomes many obstacles driven by her uncaring family and heinous headmistress.

The Lenoir County Historical Association (LCHA) successfully hosted a Naturalization Ceremony on the Fourth of July at the historic Harmony Hall. The event, which began at 10 am, commemorated the induction of new citizens into the United States of America.

Just before 7 a.m. on July 3rd, Lenoir County EMS personnel were dispatched to a medical call at a residence on the 700 block of Garland Avenue in Kinston. Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire Department and Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office officials also responded to the call.
On 05/28/2023 Officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to the area of Jack Rountree regarding an EMS paramedic that had been shot. The paramedic was taken to Vidant Medical Center via ground unit and escorted by KPD and LCSO.

Lenoir Community College graduate Dominic English has been named LCC’s Dallas Herring Award recipient for 2023. She is one of the Great 58 in the North Carolina Community College System. The Dallas Herring Award was established to honor the late Dr. Dallas herring, one of the state’s earliest advocates of community colleges.
Annette McDaniel, nurse case-manager at UNC Health Lenoir, and an employee this year for 40 years, says she was so surprised and a bit overwhelmed to learn recently that she is indeed related to the McDaniel family that started the hospital history in Kinston 117 years ago on June 27th.
Mildred L. Koonce Cunningham, 92, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
