County Commissioners seek Lenoir volunteers for community advisory board

Have you ever considered volunteering your time to help those living in nursing homes or adult homes in Lenoir County? Here is your opportunity!

The Lenoir County Board of Commissioners are seeking seven extraordinary and caring volunteers to be part of the Lenoir County Nursing Home and Adult Home Community Advisory Board. This committee is appointed by the county commissioners and designated by the State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.

The primary function of the Lenoir County Nursing Home and Adult Home Community Advisory Committee is to maintain the rights of the residents living in adult care homes, nursing homes and family care homes. Committee members conduct regular visits to these facilities to assess the general conditions of the homes and provide one-on-one conversations with the residents.

Volunteers work for the best interest of the residents by helping resolve grievances, promote awareness of issues effecting residents, and encourage community involvement. Volunteers must live in Lenoir County and not have a conflict of interest. Conflict of interests include having a family member residing in a home served by the committee, having a financial interest in the home or being employed by the home.

For more information on how to apply, complete the Board Request Appointment Request Form (found under the Government tab at the top of the lenoircountync.gov home page, labeled “County Appointed Boards”) and return it to Lenoir County Clerk Vicki King at vicki.king@lenoircountync.gov.
