Beginning March 13 and continuing until April 17, the City of Kinston, Deep Run Water Corporation, North Lenoir Water Corporation Town of Grifton and Town of Pink Hill will temporarily change the disinfectant used in the water treatment process. Chlorine will be used rather than chloramines during this five-week period.

Harriet Rouse, 78, went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 on Sunday, March 12, at Tanglewood Church with Pastor Allen Stocks officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Calvin Holloway III, a 20-year-old from Kinston, has been arrested for stealing a vehicle and damaging a business property. L.J. Electrical Company's fence was damaged after Holloway allegedly drove the stolen vehicle through it. He faces multiple charges, including felony larceny and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmy Sowers officiating.
