Obituary - Harriet Rouse

Harriet Rouse, 78, went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 on Sunday, March 12, at Tanglewood Church with Pastor Allen Stocks officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Harriet was a native of Kinston and was born on October 24, 1944, to Charlie Lemuel and Ollie Magnolia Sumrell. She was a star basketball player during her high school years and graduated from Wheat Swamp High School. After high school, prior to obtaining her beautician license, she was employed by Dupont. She worked part time as a beautician, however, she retired after a number of years from West Pharmaceutical Company. Harriet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an active member of Tanglewood Church and was dedicated in service to her Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, James Dixon Rouse; sons, Bobby Price, Jr. and wife Mary Kaye, Christopher Price and wife Misty, Jason Rouse; daughter, Dondra Sugg-Willis and husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Danielle Roberson, Kutter Sugg, Madisyn Willis; great granddaughter, Zoey Roberson; sisters, Viki Jackson and Jo Martin; and a brother, Charles Sumrell, Jr.

Harriet is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tanglewood Church, 2103 Rouse Road, Kinston, NC 28504.
