Greene County commissioners are expected Monday to hear the opening presentation for a new comprehensive land use plan, the first countywide update since 2012.

The La Grange Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to withdraw from membership in the Eastern Carolina Council, citing concerns about the organization’s financial condition, management problems and its ability to effectively serve member governments. The withdrawal will take effect July 1, 2026.

The La Grange Town Council voted 4-1 Monday night to move forward with a voluntary parcel donation strategy for a deteriorating downtown building at 104 S. Caswell St. and 101 and 103 W. Railroad St., a prominent corner property that town officials say poses an ongoing public safety hazard. Mayor Pro Tem Larry Gladney was absent. Councilman Rouse cast the lone dissenting vote.
(RALEIGH) Today Governor Stein announced that the N.C. Global TransPark, a 2,500-acre multimodal industrial park in Kinston, and the U.S. Navy have signed a 10-year agreement that will bring more than 400 jobs to eastern North Carolina. The N.C. Global TransPark will support maintenance and aircraft overhaul for the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE), which provides fleet support to all branches of the U.S. Department of War.
