Following the recent shooting incident in the St. Johns area, investigators identified Sentelle Leonard (25 of Goldsboro) as the primary suspect. Detectives secured arrest warrants for Leonard on the following charges:

Lenoir County says an external cybersecurity breach led to the $1.34 million payment error and has asked the FBI to investigate after an internal review confirmed its systems were secure. According to the statement, the County is negotiating in good faith with the contractor to resolve the dispute without burdening taxpayers.
With deep sadness, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of K9 "Judge," a loyal and dedicated bloodhound who faithfully served our community since October 2018. Judge, who was nearly 9 years old, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, July 20, at the home he shared with his handler, Sgt. E. Carlyle.

Chief Keith Goyette shared the following statement: “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Jaylen Green.
