Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team concluded an investigation related to narcotics and firearms. North Carolina’s second-highest court will decide in the weeks ahead whether Lenoir County violated its own ordinances by permitting a new automobile auction-sales operation just outside La Grange. The town argues that the business should have been rejected as an impermissible junkyard.

On Monday, December 4, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants and arrested John Landrine, 65, of Kinston, for Second Degree Forcible Sexual Offense and Crimes Against Nature.
