A section of the U.S. 17 Bypass in Jones County is now known as the Senator Harry Brown Highway.

This week, NCDOT leaders, officials, family and friends dedicated a section of the highway between Pollocksville and Maysville in Brown’s honor.

A native of Jones County, Brown was instrumental in funding the U.S. 17 Bypass.

“Senator Harry Brown is a leader, former colleague and friend who served the state with honor for 16 years. I am grateful for his service, as well as his dedication to Jones County,” said Representative Chris Humphrey. “A highway dedication in his honor is well deserved recognition for his selfless and tireless efforts.”
