GEC celebrated its first Student Appreciation Day on Friday November 17. In today’s society special observance days are acknowledged throughout the year for special occupations such as Boss’ Day, Teacher and Nurse Day and so many adult occupations. However, the staff and administration decided to turn the tables and have a day to express appreciation for the GEC students.
Lenoir County Rotaract, a local service organization dedicated to community outreach, is hosting its annual drive-in movie fundraiser on December 9th. The event will feature a showing of "The Grinch" (2018) and aims to provide families with a unique and festive experience while supporting local non-profits.

Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team concluded an investigation related to narcotics and firearms. On Monday, December 4, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants and arrested John Landrine, 65, of Kinston, for Second Degree Forcible Sexual Offense and Crimes Against Nature.
Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team conducted a traffic stop involving Qwashaun Herring. During the traffic stop, detectives attempted to serve Herring with an Order For Arrest. US Marshals picked up 40 year old Christopher Michael Caudell in Greenville, NC on 11/29/2023, after Greene County Sheriff's Office Investigators charged him with Attempted Murder.
Two men, both out of jail on pre-trial charges, were arrested Thursday by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crimes and Rapid Response) unit.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. During todays Lenoir County Commissioner’s Meeting, the Lenoir County Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Commissioner Chad Rouse. Immediately following the meeting, the clerk to the board published the notice for the special meeting.

Commissioner Chad Rouse is resigning from the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners. Neuse News has confirmed that Lenoir County School Board member Keith King will be voted on as Rouse's replacement at an upcoming special Lenoir County Board of Commissioners meeting.
