Detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crimes and Rapid Response) unit were conducting proactive enforcement in the Pauls Path Road area of Kinston on Wednesday following resident complaints.
Freshly decked out for the holidays, one of the oldest homes in Lenoir County and the oldest building in Kinston will be open to the public Sunday afternoon for an event that includes refreshments and a raffle for more than a dozen items.
At the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners meeting on November 20, 2023, Danny Rice received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Governor of North Carolina. Established in 1963, this accolade is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and outstanding accomplishments in their contributions to the state and local communities.

In May 2019, The Town of Maysville was part of a campaign administered by the PFAS Testing Network and administered through the UNC System to allow its drinking water to be tested for a suite of 50-55 PFAS compounds.

We will be closing our restaurant on Saturday, December 30, 2023 for a major remodel project. This remodel will increase our kitchen size and capacity, provide a covered double lane drive thru around the building, increase our interior drive thru service area and expand our indoor dining area. We are very excited for the changes and improvements.

State Employees Credit Union recently presented the State Employees Credit Union Foundation Scholarship to Lenoir Community College students Marlen Ramirez-Ortiz of Deep Run, and Kenady Yates of Kinston.
KPD is currently attempting to identify the subject in the photograph. It was reported that he stole the mower from a resident of our community.
The annual Lights of Love tree lighting ceremony at UNC Health Lenoir Hospital brought warmth and reflection to the community, marking over 30 years of celebrating life, love, and remembrance.

Michael James Ward, age 68, of Kinston, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Pruitt Health. Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Rick Vernon officiating. The family will be receiving friends at home.
In early November, Ricardo Arias, 7th Grade Math Teacher at Greene County Middle School was honored by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) as the Outstanding Secondary Teacher of 2022-2023.
