Kinston man arrested on drug, weapon charges

A Kinston man was arrested Wednesday on drug and weapon charges.

Detectives with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crimes and Rapid Response) unit were conducting proactive enforcement in the Pauls Path Road area of Kinston on Wednesday following resident complaints. During this time, detectives observed suspicious behavior consistent with a narcotics transaction.

Detectives made contact with a suspect and discovered marijuana and a homemade firearm on his person. The suspect, Roderick Forbes, 27, is a previously convicted felon; he was arrested and received a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a misdemeanor charge of marijuana.

Forbes was booked into the Lenoir County Jail and received a secured bond for both charges.
