The honors continue to add up for EB Frink Middle School math teacher Pauline Lindo. Named LCPS’s Teacher of the Year in 2022, she was recognized recently by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics as the district’s Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher for 2022-2023.

SALUTE, the non-profit organization that runs the GI Joe Living History Museum and the Walk of Honor, began with an idea. The idea was to honor the veterans of Lenoir County for their sacrifices in defending the freedoms of America’s people.
Hosted by Greene Central, the Southeast regional HOSA Leadership Conference was held at the Greene County Wellness Center on October 19. The SE regional consists of nine counties. This conference was to offer opportunities to develop leadership skills as well as hear from candidates vying for leadership positions. Only ten delegates from each chapter, with three voting delegates, could attend the event.

Raleigh – Forty-two state employees from nine state agencies and four University of North Carolina System institutions will be honored with the Governor’s Awards for Excellence during a 2 p.m. ceremony at the North Carolina Museum of History on Tuesday, October 24.

The Jones County Hunters Association’s 2nd Annual Big Buck Bash will be held this weekend, October 27-28, at the Trenton Fairgrounds. This event benefits the community in many ways. The JCHA supports local schools with a Coats for Kids Drive at Christmas. They were able to deliver many gift bags full of coats to Jones County Schools last December.

Kaylah Blount, a dedicated math teacher at Rochelle Middle School, has been honored with the 2023 Educator of the Year award from Credle Inspired Enterprises. The award, named in memory of Margaret G. Gibbs, a renowned educator who touched the lives of countless children during her three-decade career, recognizes outstanding educators who have made a significant impact in their field.
Recently, former Neuse News Intern and Greene Central English teacher Alita White Lewis was named the Beginning Teacher of the Year. Lewis is a third-year English teacher at Greene Central High School. I currently teach English IV Honors, STEM English IV Honors, and English II. In addition to teaching English, she also oversees the school's yearbook and our student news publication The Rambler.
