Kaylah Blount Receives 2023 Educator of the Year Award

Kaylah Blount, a dedicated math teacher at Rochelle Middle School, has been honored with the 2023 Educator of the Year award from Credle Inspired Enterprises. The award, named in memory of Margaret G. Gibbs, a renowned educator who touched the lives of countless children during her three-decade career, recognizes outstanding educators who have made a significant impact in their field.

Credle Inspired Enterprises, under the leadership of CEO Marcia Credle, is committed to empowering women and acknowledging their achievements across various domains. In a message to Kaylah Blount, CEO Marsha Credle expressed her excitement, saying, "Greetings Kaylah! I am the CEO and founder of Credle Inspired Enterprises. Our primary goal is to help women move from their comfort zone to their discovery zone. Additionally, we want to ensure that women are recognized for their accomplishments in various fields. In honor of my mother, Margaret G. Gibbs, an exemplary educator who positively impacted the lives of children for over 30 years, we created the Margaret G. Gibbs Educator Award."

Kaylah Blount, upon receiving the prestigious award, shared her gratitude, saying, "This means a lot to receive this award because I had to be nominated and voted for! I was up against 15 other candidates across VA, MD, NC, GA, and Washington DC. I had almost 3,000 votes to win."

Blount, known for her innovative approach to teaching math and her rising popularity on TikTok, has been using social media as a platform to inspire students worldwide. She commented, "I would tell others in the field that it's more important to connect with your students than just come in the door teaching them. I would tell them to truly do it from the heart and not for the pay. I would say you'll have some disappointments and frustrations, but nothing compares to the joy these kids will bring you. Nothing else matters when you connect with your students and you're able to grow them from a 1 to a 3 just because you took the time to build that relationship first."

Kaylah Blount's dedication to her students and her passion for math have made her a beloved figure both in the classroom and online. Her TikTok videos, which blend educational content with creativity, have garnered millions of views and a substantial following. Blount's use of social media as a tool for positive reinforcement and engagement with her students has been particularly noteworthy.

As Blount continues to inspire and make a difference in the lives of her students, she remains humble about her achievements. "I would still be doing videos if I had five followers."

Kaylah Blount's commitment to education and her innovative teaching methods have earned her the well-deserved recognition as the 2023 Educator of the Year from Credle Inspired Enterprises. Her story serves as an inspiration to educators and students alike, highlighting the power of passion, dedication, and the genuine connection between teachers and their students.
