The Kinston Free Press is one of many print newspapers changing how, and when, they are delivered according to an article written by John McClure from the New Bern Sun Journal. “In order to satisfy both and remain healthy on our bottom lines as a business, some of our newspapers such as Goldsboro, New Bern and Jacksonville are going to a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday weekend edition publication cycle,” McClure wrote. “Roanoke Rapids Herald will publish Tuesdays and Saturdays. Others, like the Kinston Free Press, will be converting to a weekly Thursday publication.”

Lenoir County Sheriff’s office reported there was a Breaking and Entering on the 400 block Arron Johnson Road. Linda Liddell Pate was taken in custody on the scene. Curtis Liddell Pate fled the scene and was apprehended after a three-hour manhunt.

On Monday, 02/06/2023 around 1:30 am Greene County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop in Snow Hill. K9 Sasha was deployed during the stop and upon her alerting on the vehicle, Deputies located approximately 24 grams of methamphetamines.

A woman has been arrested after being charged with having sexual relations with a minor that she had helped run away from Kinston’s Nova Behavioral Healthcare.
In previous years, the Needs-Based Public School Capital Fund Fund Grant structure prohibited Lenoir County Public Schools from using both lottery funds and grant funds to replace E.B. Frink Middle School. It required all districts who were awarded the grants to return all lottery funds for the period of the grant. In LCPS’s case, it was five years.
