Officers with the Kinston Police Department have been investigating a series of vandalisms at Art 105, 105 W. Blount St., Kinston. The most recent incident occurred on February 13, 2023, that involved someone breaking the windows to the business.

Kinston Free Press is moving to a weekly Thursday publication
The Kinston Free Press is one of many print newspapers changing how, and when, they are delivered according to an article written by John McClure from the New Bern Sun Journal. “In order to satisfy both and remain healthy on our bottom lines as a business, some of our newspapers such as Goldsboro, New Bern and Jacksonville are going to a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday weekend edition publication cycle,” McClure wrote. “Roanoke Rapids Herald will publish Tuesdays and Saturdays. Others, like the Kinston Free Press, will be converting to a weekly Thursday publication.”

Breaking and entering leads to two in custody after three hour manhunt
Lenoir County Sheriff’s office reported there was a Breaking and Entering on the 400 block Arron Johnson Road. Linda Liddell Pate was taken in custody on the scene. Curtis Liddell Pate fled the scene and was apprehended after a three-hour manhunt.
Battle of the Books wins go to Woodington Middle, Kinston High
Woodington Middle School picked up its second consecutive win and Kinston High School scored a revenge victory as LCPS middle schools and high schools squared off in back-to-back Battle of the Books contests on Friday.
Snow Hill Police Department investigating silver sedan following Friday shooting
At around 2:40PM on 02/10/23 SHPD was dispatched to 416 Kingold Blvd. to investigate a shots fired call. Upon arrival SHPD officers, with the assistance of deputies from Greene County Sherriff's Office secured the scene and began an initial investigation.
Humphrey sponsors legislation to expand rural healthcare access
Last week, Representative Chris Humphrey (R-Lenoir) joined NC House Health Committee Chairmen Donnie Lambeth and Donna White to file House Bill 76: Access to Healthcare Options, legislation to provide North Carolinians with increased access to healthcare options, particularly in rural areas like Lenoir, Jones, and Greene counties.

The Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant Organization is pleased to announce the 2023 pageant will be held February 25 at Kinston Lenoir County Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Reid Taylor will serve as director for the 44th year. Greene County K9 alert leads to Drug Arrest
On Monday, 02/06/2023 around 1:30 am Greene County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop in Snow Hill. K9 Sasha was deployed during the stop and upon her alerting on the vehicle, Deputies located approximately 24 grams of methamphetamines.
Two arrested in execution of warrant by KPD and LCSO
Two men were arrested — one on multiple drug charges — following the execution of a search warrant in the 600 block of Darden Drive in the Meadowbrook neighborhood.
Lenoir County Students demonstrate their skills in the Science Fair Showcase
On Tuesday, students from Lenoir County Public Schools system participate in a full day focused on science starting with a presentation by scientists from UNC's Morehead Planetarium, coaching sessions from local science fair facilitators, and the public spotlight in the evening. Select students from all schools were chosen to participate in the Science Fair Showcase. The purpose of the event is to educate, entertain, and energize school Science Fair winners as they head to North Carolina regional competition.

Kinston woman arrested; charged with sexual relations with a minor
A woman has been arrested after being charged with having sexual relations with a minor that she had helped run away from Kinston’s Nova Behavioral Healthcare.
LCPS strives for grant funds to replace E.B. Frink Middle School
In previous years, the Needs-Based Public School Capital Fund Fund Grant structure prohibited Lenoir County Public Schools from using both lottery funds and grant funds to replace E.B. Frink Middle School. It required all districts who were awarded the grants to return all lottery funds for the period of the grant. In LCPS’s case, it was five years.
