Tropical Storm Isaias - Monday 630am Briefing

According to the Monday 630am Briefing on Tropical Storm Isaias from the National Weather Service, the storm has sustained 70 mph winds and all of Eastern NC continues under a Tropical Storm Watch or Warning. The most likely time of arrival of Tropical Storm Force Winds is Monday night, however, we could see Tropical Storm Force Winds as early as Monday evening. All of Eastern NC has a potential for tornadoes to occur before and during the storm.

Governor Roy Cooper signs executive order No. 153 limiting the sale of alcoholic beverages after 11 pm

With actions to slow the spread of COVID-19 beginning to have impact, Governor Roy Cooper is doubling down on prevention measures with Executive Order 153 stopping the sale of alcoholic drinks in restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries at 11 pm. North Carolina bars that are currently closed will remain closed. This order will take effect Friday, July 31.

North Lenoir Fire and Rescue lowers insurance rating

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey announced today that North Lenoir Fire & Rescue completed their routine inspection and significantly improved their rating to a 3/9E. "I'd like to congratulate Chief Wade for the department's performance and for the hard work of all the department members," said Commissioner Causey. "The citizens should rest easy knowing they have a fine group of firefighters protecting them and their property in case of an emergency."
