On Thursday, November 18th, 2021, at approximately 1:47 p.m. Kinston Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Queen St. in reference to multiple calls regarding a shooting that had occurred.
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at approx. 10:06 am, the Truist Bank (formerly BB & T) located at 121 Third St, in Ayden was robbed. The suspect was described as a white male, 35-40 years of age, approx.. 6 ft tall with a slender build.

In the late evening of November 10, 2021, several vehicles were broken into by individuals who stole items from inside the vehicles.

On Monday, November 08, 2021, at approximately 1:11 am, officers from the Kinston Police Department checked out with a suspicious vehicle behind Premiere Theatre located at 1176 Hill Farm Road. Officers made contact with two juvenile individuals inside the vehicle and were investigating the purpose why they were at the property when the driver of the vehicle attempted to back over one of the officers.
Pink Hill Police Dept is seeking the help of the community with any information regarding the armed robbery of the BP Short Stop in Pink Hill, Thursday October 28th, 2021 around 10:15pm.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Patrol Bureau located Mark Robb walking on U.S. 70 Highway near mile marker 411. He was taken into custody without further incident.
On October 14, 2021, officers from the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to 405 East New Bern Road in reference to breaking and entering into (4) vehicles. The investigation led officers to a residence on Darden Drive.
The Kinston Police Department has been able to identify the suspects responsible for breaking into the Vernon Park Mall. All five of the individuals are juveniles ages 16-17 and all five are from Greene County. Investigators are currently working with the Department of Juvenile Justice to bring charges against the suspects.
On 10/08/2021 Officers responded to the Gifted Hands Barbershop located at 1500 W. Vernon Ave in regards to an assault. Upon arrival it was determined that three individuals came into the barbershop and assaulted a customer.
On Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, members of the Kinston Police Department Narcotics Unit concluded two narcotics investigations that spanned the course of nearly 3 months. This operation was conducted as a part of the department’s initiative to suppress violent crime in the city.
Michael Shane Strickland was arrested and charged with Felony Larceny and Felony Possession of stolen goods. He was confined in the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Jail under a $15,000.00 secured bond.
On Friday, September 17th, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Kinston Police Officers conducting proactive patrols located Nigel Wiggins, 24, of Kinston, N.C. walking along the 700 block of Terminal St. in Kinston with a firearm. Officers attempted contact with Wiggins and after a brief foot chase he was arrested and the firearm was recovered. Wiggins was placed in the Lenoir County Jail to await federal prosecution for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
