Lenoir County Sheriff's office: Subject murdered in Lenoir County

At approximately 5:05 pm on December 2, Lenoir County deputies responded to 5925 Saint Thomas Court in Grifton for a reporting shooting incident.

Deputies arrived and found Jy’Quavaion Daniels, 20 years had been shot and killed. Deputies and Detectives quickly located a juvenile suspect at the property and took the juvenile into custody.

After a thorough crime scene investigation that included Lenoir County Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators and Agents with the NC State Bureau of Investigations, it was determined that the juvenile suspect had shot the victim and killed him inside the residence.

Sheriff Ronnie Ingram stated “the suspect in this case is a juvenile who was related to the victim. At this time we do not believe there are any other suspects at large.”

Sheriff Ingram added, “we are still trying to determine what happened that caused the shooting, but it is clear that this was an intentional murder of the victim.”

The suspect was arrested and confined in a juvenile detention facility under and open county of murder under no bond.

The case is remains an active investigation by Lenoir County Detectives and the NCSBI to assure all leads are followed up with.
