Traffic Stop Leads to Felon Firearm Arrest
On July 18, 2026, a deputy with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office D-Shift conducted a traffic stop on N.C. Highway 903 North near Old Jason Road after observing a speeding violation.
During the traffic stop, deputies identified a rear-seat passenger as Jeremy Melik Graves, 20, of Goldsboro. As deputies continued their investigation, they discovered Graves was in possession of a loaded .300 Blackout AR-style rifle.
Further investigation revealed that Graves is a convicted felon and is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. Deputies took Graves into custody without incident and seized the firearm as evidence.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for the traffic violation and released from the scene.
Graves was transported to the Lenoir County Detention Center, where he appeared before a magistrate and was charged with:

Graves received a $40,000 secured bond and was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center.
