Obituary: James "Jimmy" Liston Pressly
On May 26, 2026, we mourned the passing of a beloved family member, James “Jimmy” Liston Pressly, 77, who was born on March 31, 1949 in Kinston, NC to Mariana Rochelle and Joseph Earl Pressly.
Jimmy was a proud Red Devil of Grainger High School and attended East Carolina University. He had a long career in the car business and received first place in Nissan Motor Corp’s Regional Top 10 percent ranking, National Salesman Award for Customer Satisfaction in 1994. He retired from Massey Motor Company in 2018. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting with “the boys,” and fishing at Oriental with Theresa. Along with selling a car, he entertained you with jokes and stories, complete with animation. He never let the truth stand in the way of a good story. Jimmy was a kind-hearted man, loved his family, and always remained true to his fellow man.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Theresa Jones Pressly; son, Jim Pressly, and wife Felicia; son, Marty Price; daughter, Jaime Pressly; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Sissy Weil and husband, Louis; brother, Tommy Pressly, and wife Laura; sister-in-law, Grace Pressly; Special Guardian Angel, Gordy Lucas; two brothers-in-law, Mike Jones and wife Ina and Gerald Jones, and wife Bobbi; his precious furbaby, Poppi; and many other special family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his siblings Linda, Joe, and Allen Pressly.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of the Life of Jimmy, will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Herritage St., Kinston, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in Hamilton Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Jimmy’s memory be made to the Lenoir County SPCA, PO Box 1481, Kinston, NC 28503.
