Hope to Destiny for Youth to Host Large-Scale Community S.T.E.A.M. Event to Inspire Future Leaders

Hope to Destiny for Youth is proud to announce a dynamic and engaging S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Community Event aimed at inspiring students and families through hands-on learning and real-world exposure. The event will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 101 N. Myrtle Ave, Kinston, NC 28501. 

This free event is open to elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as parents, educators, and community members. The goal is to provide a safe, engaging environment where youth can explore educational pathways, build confidence, and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 

Attendees will experience: 

- Interactive S.T.E.A.M. stations featuring live experiments and demonstrations - Hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and creativity 

- Opportunities to connect with college representatives and professionals 

- Exposure to career pathways in high-demand S.T.E.A.M. fields 

- Free science packets for students to continue learning at home 

- Free lunch provided for all participants 

Participating partners include East Carolina University (ECU), NC State University, University of Houston, and Kinston Housing Authority (KHA), along with other community partners. 

“This event is about creating opportunities and opening doors for our youth,” said Curtis Henderson, MSCJ, MSSA, MSP, Chair of Hope to Destiny for Youth. 

Co-Chair Dr. Jerrod Henderson, PhD, added that the event helps build innovation, confidence, and long-term success.
