Kinston-Linda Dail Herring, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Linda was born in Lenoir County to the late Francis Hiram Dail and Catherine Rouse Dail on March 4, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Dail.
Linda was an avid reader who found great joy in immersing herself in novels of many genres and was rarely without a good book close at hand. She also had a deep appreciation for the beauty of home and nature, spending countless hours tending to her flower beds and maintaining the immaculate yard she took great pride in.
Linda enjoyed attending estate sales and visiting antique stores, always searching for special additions to her cherished Hummel collection. She found great pleasure in the memories and history that accompanied each piece she discovered.
Professionally, Linda dedicated many years to the banking industry. Following her career in banking, she continued working locally with The Lighting Gallery, where she enjoyed serving the community.
A devoted member of Westminster United Methodist Church, Linda was actively involved in her church for many years and faithfully attended services alongside her husband, Jimmy, for as long as her health allowed. Her faith and church community remained an important part of her life.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Broadwell officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Committal will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Linda is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-one years, Jimmy Herring; children, Donna Franklin and husband Rob, Trina Ciaramella and husband Jason, and Mike Herring and wife Cori; grandchildren, Josh Franklin, Matthew Ciaramella, Rachel Ciaramella, Dylan Nielson, and Bradyn Nileson; brother, Tommy Dail and wife Shirley; sister, Martha Keiter and husband Bill; sister-in-law, Lana Dail; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
