Sex Offender Arrested for Registration Violations
On March 31, 2026, deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Elijiah Lamar Cannon for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements under North Carolina State Law.
The investigation began on March 25, 2026, when the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Division received information that James Elijiah Lamar Cannon, 32 of Kinston, was in violation of the sex offender registry. Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and determined that Cannon failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of a change of address and also failed to report in person as required by State Law.
As a result of the investigation, Cannon was arrested and charged with the following:
One Count (F) Fail to Report New Address – Sex Offender
One Count (F) Fail to Report in Person – Sex Offender
James Elijiah Lamar Cannon received a $75,000.00 secured bond for the above charges.
