Lenoir County Sex Offender Arrested for Registration Violations
On April 13, 2026, deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Thomas Lockhart III, 35, of Kinston, North Carolina, for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements under North Carolina State Law.
The investigation began on April 9, 2026, after the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Division received information that Lockhart was in violation of the sex offender registry. Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and confirmed that Lockhart failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of a change of address and was residing in close proximity to a daycare center, in violation of state law.
Lockhart has been charged with the following:
One Count (F) Fail to Report New Address – Sex Offender
One Count (F) Sex Offender Residence Violation
Lockhart received a $100,000.00 secured bond for the above charges.
Lockhart is currently being held at the Lenoir County Detention Center.
