Neuse News Sports is set to take its next step forward.
After nearly five years of consistent, in-depth coverage across Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties, the platform will officially expand into Wayne County, bringing the same athlete-first approach that has helped define its presence in Eastern North Carolina since August 2021.
From state championship runs to weekly recaps, player features, and in-game coverage across nearly every sport, Neuse News Sports has built a reputation for showing up and telling the stories that matter at the local level. Now, that same model is heading into a new community.
NNS Wayne will operate as an extension of the Neuse News Sports brand under Magic Mile Media, continuing its mission of providing free, consistent, and community-driven coverage.
Magic Mile Media President BJ Murphy emphasized what this expansion represents.
“We’ve seen what consistent coverage can do in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties. Wayne County is next,” Murphy said. “From in-game highlights and interviews to our weekly podcast and GameDay show, we’re here to show up every week and put a spotlight on these athletes and teams.”
Leading that effort will be Trey Scott, Vice President of Sports Media & Digital Strategy and the driving force behind Neuse News Sports’ growth. A well-known sportswriter across Eastern North Carolina, Scott has covered everything from local high school standouts to college athletics, including North Carolina games in venues ranging from the Bahamas to Madison Square Garden. He oversees daily operations, content strategy, and serves as the lead writer for the platform.
Alongside Scott is a growing team that has helped reshape the local sports media landscape. Chance Scott, founder of The Pirate Pulse, brings experience covering ECU athletics, while videographer Danny Perez and others behind the scenes continue to elevate the brand’s digital presence through high-level video and storytelling.
Together, the group has helped Neuse News Sports evolve into one of the most active and recognizable local sports outlets in the region—blending traditional reporting with modern media.
As the expansion begins, community involvement will remain a key part of the mission. Neuse News Sports is introducing its Booster Club initiative, giving parents, fans, and supporters an opportunity to directly support coverage in their area and help ensure consistent exposure for local athletes.
With a proven model and a commitment to showing up week after week, Neuse News Sports is ready to bring its coverage to Wayne County, and continue telling the stories of the athletes and teams that make Eastern North Carolina special.
