GEC Students Attend State Beta Convention

Nine members of the Greene Early College High School Beta Club attended  the North Carolina Senior Beta State Convention in Greensboro, January 27-28.  Beta is an educational youth organization in America to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. 

2022 N.C. high school graduates enrolling in community college could receive tuition assistance through Longleaf Commitment Grant

Students in North Carolina who graduated high school in 2022 are eligible to have tuition and fees covered at any of the state’s 58 community colleges through the Longleaf Commitment Grant. The grant provides between $700 – $2,800 to recent high school graduates to cover the cost of tuition and fees for up to two years at a North Carolina Community College. 2022 high school graduates in North Carolina are eligible for the grant money to use for current and subsequent semesters through Fall 2024.

BJ Murphy: School Board decision paves way for more diversity

The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected everyone in 2020 and will affect us for years to come. I will leave some of the national debate about the economic stress, masks, hydroxychloroquine, or other issues to the pundits. On a local level, the recent potential 18-week decision by the Lenoir County School Board exposed a servant leadership deficit catching parents, teachers and even administrators by surprise.

North Lenoir wins the Braggin' Bowl

The Hawks finished off one of the best regular seasons in school history by scoring its most points ever against rival South Lenoir, and the second-most against any opponent, in a 62-20 trouncing of the Blue Devils Friday at Bullock Field.
