KPD: DWI Arrest Following Two-Vehicle Crash
On March 24, 2026, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash at the intersection of NC Highway 58 and Cunningham Road.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with both drivers. One of the drivers, 24-year-old Nicholas Hernandez-Lopez of LaGrange, displayed signs of impairment.
Officers conducted both a crash investigation and a Driving While Impaired investigation. As a result, Hernandez-Lopez was arrested and transported to the Lenoir County Jail.
He was charged with the following:
- Driving While Impaired
- Open Container of Alcohol
- Failure to Reduce Speed
- No Operator’s License
