Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest on Drug and Assault Charges

On February 11, 2026, at approximately 1:47 a.m., KPD’s C-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop at East Gordon Street and Vance Street for motor vehicle violations.

During the stop, officers observed indicators of narcotics violations and conducted a search. The driver, identified as 41 year old Keturah Jones, refused to comply with lawful commands and began to physically resist officers. During the struggle, Jones kicked an officer, causing injury to the officer’s hand.

Jones was ultimately taken into custody, and the continued search resulted in the discovery of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Jones was transported to the Lenoir County Jail and is being held without bond on the following charges:

• Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer Causing Injury

• Resisting a Public Officer

• Felony Possession of Cocaine

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Motor Vehicle Violations
