Update: Shooting investigation underway on Richard Green Court, suspect in custody
**UPDATE**
Kinston Police Department has located the 17 year-old juvenile suspect and he is in custody.

On July 27, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad, along with investigators, responded to a report of a shooting on Richard Green Court.
Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to various parts of his body. Officers rendered aid at the scene until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.
With the assistance of security camera footage, investigators were able to recover additional evidence discarded by the suspect. Through the course of the investigation, a juvenile suspect was identified.
Investigators have obtained the following charges against the juvenile:
-Attempted First-Degree Murder
-Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury (AWDWIKISI)
Officers are actively searching for the suspect, and additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
