Last Wednesday evening, I was blessed to eat dinner with three of my older grandchildren. Those of you who have read my column for years will remember that I have two sets of grandkids. This includes performing routine and emergency repairs to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. In addition to supervising and directing maintenance technicians, the Maintenance Supervisor will also be actively involved in hands-on maintenance work as needed to address immediate concerns and maintain operational efficiency.

Among those honored was James Mercer, a local good Samaritan who heroically pulled a victim from a burning home.

On April 10, 2025, officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad were flagged down by a victim of a hit-and-run incident near the intersection of E. Vernon Avenue and Highway 11. The victim reported that their vehicle had been struck by another vehicle, which then fled the scene. The victim was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect vehicle.
