On Friday, April 19, Greene County Schools named Ms. Joanne Duncan as the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Duncan teaches Culinary Arts at Greene Central High School. On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of an individual armed with a handgun on the campus of Kinston High School. Upon receiving this information, the school resource officer and staff members initiated lockdown protocols, and numerous officers responded to the scene to locate the individual.
A Kinston man has been arrested after he robbed a convenience store early this morning. Marshall Grady, 21, of Will Baker Road in Kinston, robbed the Speedway at 1608 U.S. Highway 258 South, Kinston at gunpoint at 2:42 a.m. today. He left with stolen money from the store.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, the LCSO's Special Response Team and the Kinston Police Department tracked the suspect to 508 E New Bern Rd.

RALEIGH: The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 31 grant requests to local governments totaling $10,982,835, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.
