On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of an individual armed with a handgun on the campus of Kinston High School. Upon receiving this information, the school resource officer and staff members initiated lockdown protocols, and numerous officers responded to the scene to locate the individual.
A Kinston man has been arrested after he robbed a convenience store early this morning. Marshall Grady, 21, of Will Baker Road in Kinston, robbed the Speedway at 1608 U.S. Highway 258 South, Kinston at gunpoint at 2:42 a.m. today. He left with stolen money from the store.

KPD Officers on D-Squad responded to an alarm at 225 E New Bern Road (Neuse Sport Shop). Officers arrived on scene and located a broken window. As additional officers were responding to the business, they passed a vehicle traveling away from scene without any lighting. Officers attempted to to stop the vehicle and the vehicle began to flee.
