KPD Officers on A-Squad responded to a vehicle collision at Dr MLK JR Blvd & Beasley Street. Officer made contact with Bryan Burwell (27 of Ayden NC). Burwell, the driver of one of the vehicles, showed signs of impairment and evidence at the scene suggested it was drug related.

A-Squad Officers responded to a vehicle collision (vehicle vs structure). Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Officers determined the driver, Koriey Davis (25) was Driving While Impaired (DWI) at the time of the crash. Davis was taken into custody for DWI and officers served 2 unrelated Orders for Arrest. Davis was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond.
The Director of Athletics and Health/PE Instructor coordinates schedules, manages staffing, and event planning for the Student Center. The Director is also responsible for coordinating, advising, and supervising staff in all areas of athletics and activity-related transportation (including the LCC Foundation bus and SGA vans). Salary range is $63,000-$72,000 annually

Donald I. Thompson, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 pm in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A residence on Joe Nunn Road south of Kinston is on fire; the two-story structure is fully involved. Approximately 10 departments are lending aid to the effort to put the fire out. The family wasn't home when the fire started. There are no injuries reported at this time.

The Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library was proud to host the 2023-2024 Young Poets Contest Awards Ceremony on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 6:30 pm. The annual contest is in its twenty-fifth year and is sponsored by the Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library.
