Obituary - Donald I. Thompson
Donald I. Thompson, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 pm in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Donald, son of the late Lloyd and Alma Mills Thompson, was a native of Onslow County. For 30 years, he was employed at the Caswell Center. He also was a carrier for the News and Observer for 20 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather; and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 10 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary “Susie” Barwick Thompson; daughters, Donna Sue Moore and husband, Kenneth and LaRue Habacker and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Ray Moore and wife, Mindy, Susan Leigh Moore, Chad Broadway, and LaDonna Dilday and husband, Tim; and five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Moore, Chloe Moore, Kennedy Rouse and husband, Channing, Hallie Dilday, and Tevis Dilday.
