Kinston Police Department: Murder case update

On Friday, September 24th, 2021, members of the Kinston Police Department obtained a warrant for arrest for Donte Reynolds, 27, of Kinston for his involvement in the murder and shooting of Micro Croom and Rashad O’Neil. Reynolds was taken into custody by Kinston Police Officers with assistance from the NC SBI. Reynolds was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under no bond.

Union Bank of Kinston is the Putting Contest Sponsor for LCC's Golf Classic

Union Bank of Kinston is the Putting Contest Sponsor of this year’s 20th annual Lenoir Community College Golf Classic on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Kinston Country Club. This event has raised more than $600,000 toward student scholarships at LCC since its inception, and Union Bank has been a consistent supporter for the past several years. Nearly 130 golfers played in the tournament last year, and the Foundation is expecting an even better attendance this year.

College speaker offers insider view to Parrott students

Randy Doss, a veteran college admissions officer and speaker at regional and national workshops, addressed 60 freshmen and parents at Parrott Academy on Monday, September 20th. With opening remarks on “what really happens in college admissions,” Doss stressed the importance of starting early in high school to build a solid foundation. He advised students to challenge themselves with rigorous courses and pay attention to what interests and motivates them. “College is a match to be made, not a prize to be won,” he stated.
