As we approach the Legislative Short Session of the North Carolina General Assembly, I find myself reflecting on the core values and priorities that guide my service to the people of Eastern North Carolina. Our district is a vibrant tapestry of hardworking families, strong communities, and steadfast determination to succeed in all things.

Linda Rouse Sutton, a familiar name in Lenoir County politics, is seeking re-election to the County Commissioners board, emphasizing her dedication to community service and a vision for continued progress. Raised on a family farm in Lenoir County, Sutton's upbringing instilled in her the values of giving back and perseverance, which have guided her throughout her career in public service.
Over the last two weeks, Congress engaged in a number of critical issues facing the nation: the raging crisis at our southern border, geopolitical challenges in Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, and rapidly approaching government funding deadlines.
Governor Roy Cooper announced today that InfinityLink Communications, a Wired Telecommunications Carrier, has been awarded a grant from the State's Building Reuse Program. Earlier in the day, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) granted Lenoir County's request for $450,000 to support relocating InfinityLink Communications' headquarters to a facility within the Highway 70 West Industrial Park.
