Humphrey: Strengthening Eastern North Carolina

Humphrey: Strengthening Eastern North Carolina

As we approach the Legislative Short Session of the North Carolina General Assembly, I find myself reflecting on the core values and priorities that guide my service to the people of Eastern North Carolina. Our district is a vibrant tapestry of hardworking families, strong communities, and steadfast determination to succeed in all things. It is my honor to represent our shared interests in Raleigh. In this crucial time, our focus is on fighting for the rights of all North Carolinians and defending the values we hold dear. That’s why I’m pleased to share my legislative agenda, which includes support for Israel, strengthening anti-squatting laws, ensuring election integrity, support for law enforcement, and economic improvement.

 Support for Israel

Our commitment to freedom abroad reflects our values here at home. Israel, a beacon of hope in the Middle East, deserves our unwavering support. By fostering strong ties and supporting policies that back Israel's security and prosperity, we not only stand with an ally but also promote a stable region that is vital to our own nation’s economy. We must stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel – our partners in faith and freedom.

 Anti-Squatting Laws

Property rights are foundational to our way of life in Eastern North Carolina. Unfortunately, the issue of squatting undermines these rights, posing legal and financial challenges for property owners. Strengthening anti-squatting laws will protect homeowners and their neighbors, ensuring that our legal framework respects property rights and provides swift remedies for unauthorized occupancy. By increasing the penalties for squatting and expediting the eviction process, our legislation will safeguard our constituents' investments and peace of mind.

 Election Integrity

We have made significant strides to ensure the integrity of North Carolina’s elections, from securing our voting systems to enhancing voter roll accuracy. Yet, there's more to be done. We will push for stronger voter ID laws and fortify our infrastructure against cyberthreats. Ensuring the integrity of every vote is not just a matter of policy but a solemn duty we uphold through the trust and confidence of the people of North Carolina. Together, we'll set a national standard for secure, fair, and transparent elections.

 Support for Law Enforcement

There is no greater responsibility of government than keeping citizens safe and secure. Our law enforcement officers stand on the front lines, protecting us from harm and maintaining order. Supporting law enforcement means providing the equipment and training they need to do their jobs effectively and safely. This session, we will be collaborating with the law enforcement community to ensure they have adequate resources to continue protecting and serving our communities with valor.

 Improving the Economy

It’s no secret why North Carolina is growing so rapidly – it’s a testament to the strength of our economy. Our agricultural heritage and natural resources offer unique economic opportunities that can create more & better job opportunities. We will continue working this session to ensure sustainable growth and maintain an environment where businesses can thrive, and families can prosper. This means cutting red tape, supporting local entrepreneurs, and investing in infrastructure that makes our region attractive to businesses.

As we enter the Legislative Short Session, these priorities guide my efforts to make Eastern North Carolina the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Together, we will build a future that honors our values, protects our rights, and fosters prosperity for all.
