Attorney General Josh Stein announces 2020’s Top 10 consumer complaints

Attorney General Josh Stein Tuesday shared the top 10 consumer complaints that the North Carolina Department of Justice received in 2020 as he released the department’s 2020 annual report. The report discusses NCDOJ’s work to protect the people of North Carolina from scams and fraud, defend the state, fight crime, provide assistance to North Carolinians, and defend their rights.

Jones County Recreation teaming up with New Bern Sunday School League Baseball

The Jones County Recreation Department is rebuilding by teaming up with the New Bern Sunday School League Baseball (NBSSL). The practices will be held in Jones County, while games will be played in New Bern. Registration will be $20 per child. “As a board member on the recreation committee Our goal is to make the Recreation Department in Jones County better than it has ever been before,” said Paul Ingram, Jones County Building Inspector.

UNC Lenoir Health Care introducing sports medicine to their Orthopedic service line

Dimitri Thomas, MD has joined UNC Health Care and UNC Physicians Network to provide care and treatment of sports-related injuries in Lenoir County and surrounding areas. “We are excited to offer this advanced service to our community”, said Robert Enders, President and CEO of UNC Lenoir Health Care. “This addition to our surgical services line further demonstrates our commitment to provide our region with outstanding healthcare. Kinston cotillion students soup-er bowl sharing

Each year, our organization enjoys participation in an outreach effort. With generous donations from our students and team, we will be delivering boxes of soup to Mary’s Kitchen. This wonderful organization makes a huge impact in our community feeding folks a lunchtime meal 7 days a week, all year long. On average, approximately 130 meals are served each day.

Lenoir County alliance announces Community Health Hero Award

The Lenoir County Alliance for a Healthy Community today announced the recipient of the latest Healthy Community Hero Award. Individuals or organizations are being recognized for demonstrating excellence through a project or program of action, within recent history, and one that results in exemplary effort and impact in improving the health of the community.

Kinston Community Center adapts classes to mitigate COVID-19

With COVID-19 precautions in place that include temperature checks upon entering the building, a face-covering requirement throughout the building, and daily closures for deep cleaning, the center wants its patrons to be safe so that they enjoy their time exercising. Classes are available Monday through Friday starting at 8:00 am with the latest class of the week starting at 6:30 pm. Popular land classes include Zumba, Cycling, Piloga, Line Dancing, and Cherish the Chairs. Aqua classes include Hydro Fitness, Deep Water, Aqua Tai Chi, Aqua Arthritis, and Fibro H20. There is also an option for those who cannot make the scheduled classes.

Happiness is a warm puppy for APA 4th graders

“Animals get cold this time of year! We want to make a big difference for them,” explained Parrott Academy fourth grader Londyn Vick as she placed another donated blanket on the pile in her classroom. She is one of 46 fourth graders who spent three weeks in January asking friends and family to donate old blankets, sheets, mattress covers, and other textiles to help the Lenoir County SPCA replenish animal bedding.
