Jones County Recreation teaming up with New Bern Sunday School League Baseball

The Jones County Recreation Department is rebuilding by teaming up with the New Bern Sunday School League Baseball (NBSSL). The practices will be held in Jones County, while games will be played in New Bern. Registration will be $20 per child.

“As a board member on the recreation committee Our goal is to make the Recreation Department in Jones County better than it has ever been before,” said Paul Ingram, Jones County Building Inspector.

The leagues are broken down into T-ball for four to six-year-olds, Rookie league for seven and eight-year-olds, Minor league for nine and ten-year-olds, and Major league for 11 and 12-year-olds.

“We are excited to team up with the new Bern Sunday School League, in an effort to better the baseball program and T-ball program in Jones County to be more organized and successful,” said Ingram.

Registration forms are available at the Jones County Water Department drive-thru window where they will collect payment as well. Registration will be open until February 22, 2021.

“Being a parent myself in Jones County having to travel two times a week to other counties was tough, so this will give the kids a chance and help the parents travel to be able to practice in the county where traveling would only be necessary for games,” said Ingram.

Jones County looks forward to the unity with NBSSL and is excited to have a well-organized program for the kids of Jones County.
