Greene County awarded $1.89 million to expand high-speed broadband to 637 unserved locations

Greene County has been awarded $1,892,976 through the State of North Carolinaโ€™s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) Program to bring high-speed internet to 637 unserved homes and businesses. This important project is part of the Countyโ€™s continued commitment to making sure every resident, no matter where they live, has access to reliable broadband service.

Downtown board approves $25,000 for Faรงade Grants program

The Downtown Kinston Revitalization Board approved $25,000 in funds at its August meeting to support the Building Improvement Faรงade Grant. This matching grant program is designed to assist property owners within the Municipal Service District (MSD) in making improvements to the exterior of their buildings, encouraging investment and maintaining the appearance of the downtown area.

The 8th Judicial District receives federal funding to continue life saving work

The 8th Judicial District, which includes Greene, Lenoir and Wayne Counties, has been awarded a $700,000.00 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to operate an Adult Accountability and Recovery Court (AARC). This Court will serve persons with a substance use disorder who have related criminal charges. Participants will be given the opportunity to participate in treatment and supportive recovery services as opposed to being incarcerated.
