Reckless Driving Complaint Leads to DWI Arrest

On August 5, 2026, at 10:46 a.m., KPD's A-Squad responded to Highway 258 South after receiving a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly.

Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. As officers attempted the stop, the driver turned left through a red light before entering the Hardee's parking lot. The vehicle continued to the rear of the parking lot, where it became disabled after stalling on a curb.

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as 40-year-old Ashley Poole of fLaGrange. Poole refused to open the door or exit the vehicle despite being given multiple verbal commands.

After repeated commands were ignored, officers broke a window to gain access to the vehicle. Even then, Poole continued refusing to exit. Officers removed her from the vehicle and took her into custody without further incident.

Poole was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where she was held without bond on the following charges:

- Driving While Impaired

- Careless and Reckless Driving

- Failure to Maintain Lane Control

- Open Container

- Failure to Stop at a Red Light

- Resist, Obstruct, or Delay a Public Officer
