Juvenile Arrested After Breaking Into Grainger Stadium
On July 2, 2026, at approximately 3:37 a.m., Kinston Police Department B-Squad officers were patrolling the area when they discovered an open gate at Grainger Stadium.
Officers entered the property to investigate and located a backpack containing items belonging to the stadium that had apparently been gathered for removal. While searching the facility, officers located a 15-year-old juvenile inside the stadium.
The juvenile fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers without further incident.
Officers recognized the juvenile from a previous investigation in which he fled from officers and attempted to hide inside a trash can during a motor vehicle breaking and entering investigation.
Officers worked with Juvenile Justice and obtained a secure custody order. The juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility and charged with the following:
- Felony Breaking and Entering (2 Counts)
- Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
